Over the years, I have seen this pattern repeat itself across industries, business models and markets:
The expertise is there.
The craftsmanship is there.
The commitment is there.
Often, the work is exceptional. Yet many the businesses built around that work never reach their full potential. That´s not because the founder lacks ambition, talent or passion. It is because building something valuable and building a business capable of carrying that value into the future are not the same thing.
I believe the type of businesses I work with matter, not just because businesses create jobs and economic activity; but also because founder-led businesses represent something increasingly rare - the freedom to build something according to one´s own standards and principles.
Really, not everything needs to scale.
Some things become valuable precisely because they remain distinct over time.
If expertise, craftsmanship and purpose are meant to survive, though, the business itself requires the same attention as the work it exists to support.
The challenge is ensuring that valuable work remains strong enough to have a future.
That is the work I care about.
